Welcome to my website and blog!
My name is Amanda Shipman and I’m a qualified garden designer with a busy design practice in Hertfordshire and a tutor at the Inchbald School of Design, London.
I love designing gardens and work closely with my clients to create beautiful, interesting and stimulating gardens, tailoring the space to reflect their lifestyle.
I have been successfully designing gardens since 1998, further developing my skills by completing a full-time Diploma in Garden Design to Distinction level at the Inchbald School of Design in 2008 where I also won the Anthony Paul Garden Design Award. During my time at college, I completed two stimulating placements which opened my eyes to all kinds of design possibilities; one with international landscape architect Martha Schwartz and another with Diarmuid Gavin. An article featuring my work was published in Diarmuid Gavin’s Garden Designs magazine, September 2008. In 2010, my design for a trade stand for furniture makers, The Dalerush Workshop, won a competition and was exhibited at The RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
I am a pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers, a life member of the National Trust and a member of the RHS.
I am privileged to design gardens for wonderful clients in and around Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London, offering a full design service from initial site visit and survey, providing scaled concept and master plans, illustrating designs as coloured perspective drawings and offering local authority planning applications, through to construction drawings, tendering for contract, project monitoring, planting plans, plant supply and planting, seasonal follow-up visits and special event gardening.
I’d be delighted to create an amazing garden, just for you! Do call me for a chat about developing your garden and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
